--- 2007 Year in Review Well, as you must know by now we are the busiest club around. We did not have one single weekend where there wasn't something going on.
One of our most important events last year was the safety course we put on in May with 50 students taking the course and everyone of them received their certificate.
We went on 15 regular rides, and we also participated in the Cambridge Cruisers Make a wish night ride event, the Troy poker run, the Cambridge Cruisers toy run and the Skowhegan toy run and food drive.
We went on three overnight weekend trips, the first one of course was the Presque Isle Ultimate event in June. Then we went to Jackman in July for the Canada rendezvous and in September we went to Houlton with great rides up Mars Hill Mtn and # 9 mtn.
In June we participated in the Corinna Old Home days parade and showed off our stuff during the nightime lighted parade. This event is growing by leaps & bounds every year and our club made a very good impression.
We held two very successful spur of the moment rides. One was a ladies only ride and the feedback we received since makes no doubt that this years ladies only ride will be a huge event. The second spur of the moment ride was our moon ride which was very well attended with an unusual amusement along the way that made the event very special.
We rode to Newport to view the fireworks, we held two of our own toy runs and one of them was at our annual picnic which our trail master, Paul Pepin, was so gracious to hold at his home. Because of these toy runs we were able to collect toys for the Christmas in Corinna celebration. These toys were handed out to all the children that came to visit Santa. We bought the Christmas gifts for the children of two local families this year.
We were instrumental in the decorating of Corinna, draping sets of lights on the trees and attaching lights to the bridges, not to mention the decorating that we helped with inside and out of the town hall. We had a great group that showed up for the decorating party, and we had a great group show up for the Christmas parade too and yes we did freeze our toes and our nose & everything else.
We participated in redecking two bridges this year and we held a two day event in Oct. in which a huge group of our members showed up and cut & hauled and trimmed and chopped away at brush & trees on the rail bed.
Now because not everything is rosy we did have an incident where a few ATV'ers rode on the mud flats in Newport. A group of us attended to the situation immediately and spoke to the reporters about the good name we are trying to uphold. We installed signs & snow fencing and there were no further incidents.
Unfortunately one of our members passed away, Kip Drew got esophageal cancer and was unable to beat it.
He won't be forgotten, that's for sure.
So... that was May to December in a nut shell , lets hope 2008 is an even better year!
.ase do your part and be courteous to the landowners who make the operation and enjoyment of ATV riding possible.
